Preparing for your Weekend Intensive experience

We’re so excited to have you in the studio. Weekend intensives are designed to give you focused, hands-on time to build skills in a more immersive format.

What to Expect
This is a more condensed experience, so expect to spend extended time working and learning at the wheel. You’ll have the opportunity to focus, repeat, and refine your process with guidance from your instructor.

Working with clay takes practice. Some pieces may not turn out as expected, and that’s part of it. This format gives you the space to better understand why and how to adjust.

Your Work
You’ll create multiple pieces throughout the weekend. Because ceramics is a multi-step process, pieces may develop small imperfections or, in some cases, not make it through firing. This is a normal part of working with clay.

Glazing will take place after the intensive. You’ll return during an included open session to glaze your work.

Lunch Break
We’ll take a one-hour break each day to rest and reset. There are plenty of great local options nearby if you’d like to step out, or you’re welcome to bring your own lunch. We have a small kitchen equipped with a microwave available for use.

What to Bring
Just yourself. We provide clay, tools, and all materials needed for the workshop. Aprons and towels are available, and you’re welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer.

A Few Helpful Tips

  • Come a few minutes early to get settled.

  • Give yourself permission to be fully immersed in the process.
